Hey there! Local Oak is a nano brewery, casual taproom, and HUGE outdoor beer garden in downtown Winterville, NC. Founded in 2019, we are proud to be family-owned and family-operated. We drink a lot of craft beer, so we ran the numbers one day and realized starting our own brewery would be cheaper for us long term. Halfway joking.

We love so many things about craft beer but feel especially drawn to the freedom and creativity fostered at very small breweries. We believe beers should always be fresh, clean, flavorful, innovative, and worthy of one more sip (or gulp). Each recipe we create is a beer style or variation we are truly interested in exploring that we think our customers will love also. Our draft offerings rotate FREQUENTLY, so please take a look at our beers page for a current menu. Craft beer is all about community, and we can’t wait to share beers with you. Cheers!

The brewery is named for the 150-year-old oak tree in the side yard. This tree has stood for generations, evergreen, through prohibition, and now serves to shade our beer garden. We wanted to pay tribute to its beauty and the years it’s been a landmark in downtown Winterville. In the words of Bob Ross, there’s nothing wrong with having a tree as a friend.
